Give yourself a pat on the back if you say this first time! Hardy with lots of early new growth resulting in a dense crop of dark green, long leaves. Nearly solid culms. Hairy sheaths. Grows to 3m - 4m in a dense and broad clump. Sun or part shade.

Fargesia yulongshanensis
This a tough but very delicate looking form of a great species. Culms bloomy when new, forming a tight clump, this is as refined as it get. Pink and purple tinted sheaths. The leaves are smaller and more sparse than other species producing a less dense plant, 5m high when mature.

Indocalamus longiauritus
Intermediate in habit between Indocalamus tesselatus and Indocalamus latifolius. Tidy mounds of fresh, medium to large leaves in a fan - like arrangement. Leaves slightly narrower and found to be more sun tolerant. Maximum height 1m50cm when mature. Sun or shade.

Phyllostachys bambusoides 'Castillonis Inversa'
Large plant for collection from the nursery
The darkest green culms with bright mustard - yellow sulci (grooves), which make a vivid contrast. Stays in a tight clump for some people, it went walkies quiclkly and impressively for us. 5m. This has been one of the quickest bamboos to mature with 50cm culms reaching over 11m in 12 years.

Phyllostachys iridescens
'Red Sheath Bamboo'. A special bamboo always in short supply. Culms emerge a bloomy, blue - green and over time develop a faint yellow and purple stripes. Height and thick culms are produced quite quickly after a few years in the ground. Vase shaped. 6m.

Pseudosasa amabilis
'Tea Stick Bamboo' or 'Tonkin Cane Bamboo', grown in China for cane production, split canes and fly fishing rods. Larger canes are used for furniture or sports equipment. Very vertical and vigorously clumping. Will grow to 5.5m but usually a lot more when mature!!!!! Best results are obtained in warmer parts of the country, it may stay juvenile in colder parts. Produces tall, thick culms for the genus with branches forming on the top half only. Leaves are large, giving it a very ' Typical Bamboo' look.

New leaves at the ends of the branches are butter - yellow at the start of the growing season. Faint green striping can be seen on the leaves when the sunlight shines against them. Produces upright, leafy groves.

This is not wrongly spelled! This plant is the reverse of 'Kimmei' . Green with a yellow stripe but the same in every other way. Another good container plant producing an abundance of new culms each year. Grows to 2.5m in the ground or 1.5 m in a pot when mature.
