|
Large plant for collection from the nursery 'Fargesii Bamboo', Silver Cane' or Silver Streak Bamboo'. Bold, vertical bamboo with rigid branching with glaucous leaves. Thick, silvery - grey culms to 6m in time. Sun or shade. Can stay in a a tight clump or form a grove depending on the soil and situation.
Open ground plants are dug to order, please give as much notice as possible.

'Variegated Leaved Marbled Bamboo'. Thin culms that turn almost red when planted in full sun. Dense low clumps that grow to 1.5m. Good, fast groundcover .
This bamboo lends itself better to open ground rather than in pots to avoid excess leaf loss in winter.

| Chusquea |
|
'Chilean Bamboo' or 'Colihue' or 'Culeu'. Very dark culmed form with clusters of small leafy branches providing a 'bottle brush' effect. Very hardy, eventually forming a dense clump to 4m or more. The 'cream' of bamboos and always in short supply. Good by sea air. Slow to gain height but worth waiting for. Extremely tolerant of drought.

We are now offering cut live culms, or dried poles of up to 35mm diameter, for bicycle production or other more decorative uses, ie: flower arranging or art work.

| Evergreen hedge |
|
This will contain a selection of bamboos for a fast growing hedge, so contain the roots with a barrier at the front and back if you do not want the rhizomes to wander. The plants will be of mixed height and leaf shape when mature and will be selected for their vigour. Grows to 2 - 4m in 4 years.

This will be suitable for medium to large gardens. The plants will be more vigorous than the Fargesias and will grow faster upwards and sideways, so you will be able to space them out a bit more. If the height is important to you but are worried about the roots spreading put a root barrier down two sides, front and back of the bamboo to keep the roots growing in line. A quick robust form. The strong, vertical green culms turn orange - yellow with age and provide a fountain of greenery higher up. 'Fountain Bamboo' or 'Jian zhu'. Purple - black culms, with small glaucous leaves. Upright, rigid habit until old, when like most things, it droops with age. Flowered worldwide in the last decade . Tolerant of shade. Eventually grows to 3.5m - 4m.

This a tough but very delicate looking form of a great species. Culms bloomy when new, forming a tight clump, this is as refined as it get. Pink and purple tinted sheaths. The leaves are smaller and more sparse than other species producing a less dense plant, 5m high when mature.
