'Silk tassel Bush'. Evergreen shrub, native to the Californian and Oregon coastal ranges, is laden with long elegant tassels from November to February, but the dried tassels last decoratively for months after. The male and female organs are on separate plants, the male tassels are grey - green and 30cm long, the female ones are silvery - grey and shorter. Tiny seeds of fluffy wind - blown cotton are produced. Purple - black fruits, 1cm in diameter will appear if pollination has occurred. Tough, green leaves, grows to 4m x 4m in 10 years. Can be a wall plant or a freestanding shrub. Deer and rabbit resistant. 

Best in sun or part shade, in moist, well - drained soils.
