Old form that has stood the test of time and still one of the best. Loads of cream blotches on the leaves. Masses of bright red berries in winter. An excellent AYR plant. Grows to 2.5m when mature. Easily shaped or pruned to smaller sizes.

Large plant for collection from the nursery A new 'River Birch'. Weeping, low maintenance habit to this pyramidal to oval tree. Good yellow autumn colours. Canopy will fall to 0.3m from the ground. Pink flaking bark reveals a brown under layer. Charteuse catkins in spring. Will grow to 7m high x 7m wide approx when mature. Plant Breeders Rights.

Large plant for collection from the nursery 'Silver Birch' with beautiful clean white bark. Deciduous tree with upright branches forming an oval to conical crown of glossy green leaves. One of the best forms, sturdy and graceful. Bark peels to reveal orange tints on the underside. Yellow flowers and conspicuous catkins in spring. Brown fruits in summer. Golden autumn tints. Will grow to about 12m when mature. Best in full sun or part shade, in most well drained soils. Given an Award of Garden Merit by the RHS.

'Flat - Stalked Spindle Tree' or 'Sakhalin Euonymus'. Distinctive, large, pointed mahogany coloured buds in spring. Spectacular red and plum autumn colours. Small tree or shrub with large scarlet fruits hang gracefully from the plant in autumn, they then open to show the bright orange seeds. Grows up to 3m.

'Silk tassel Bush'. Evergreen shrub, native to the Californian and Oregon coastal ranges, is laden with long elegant tassels from November to February, but the dried tassels last decoratively for months after. The male and female organs are on separate plants, the male tassels are grey - green and 30cm long, the female ones are silvery - grey and shorter. Tiny seeds of fluffy wind - blown cotton are produced. Purple - black fruits, 1cm in diameter will appear if pollination has occurred. Tough, green leaves, grows to 4m x 4m in 10 years. Can be a wall plant or a freestanding shrub. Deer and rabbit resistant.

Large plant for collection from the nursery 'Turners Oak'. Elegant tree. Evergreen, long, narrow leaves which may defoliate in a harsh winter. The old leaves usually fall when the new appear in spring. Very ornamental bark. Best in full sun. This is a hybrid of the 'Pedunculate Oak' ( Q. robur ) and the evergreen 'Holm Oak' ( Q. ilex ) making it hardier than Q. x turneri and smaller leaved. Will grow to 15m when mature.
